6 Tips to transform your space

We moved into a new build a few years ago, and at that time I loved it but it never had any of my touches that matched my personality. Being that I was a new homeowner I didn’t want to make a huge splurge on transforming my space. Instead I worked in sections of my house but started off with my kitchen. I swapped out my hardware from what the builder installed, to gold knobs. That instantly gave my kitchen a mini facelift without spending too much.

Also switching out your light fixtures can really make a big statement. If there is a light fixture you don’t love in your house, those are easy to swap. You can get a flush light fixture, and switch it out. Or if you want to go big then add a beautiful chandelier. The bathroom lights, room lights, and even above your kitchen island.

Area rugs really pull the design together, adding a big area rug can make the room appear bigger, and then tie in the under tones with your home decor. I love swapping out my area rug in my living-room at least once a year. That may seem pricy but if you are able to let go of your old rug then put it up on marketplace, and use that money to go towards your new one.

Don’t be afraid to mix metals, perhaps you have faucets in your home, but you want to change only one room. Then do it! You can easily purchase a faucet for a reasonable price and that will inhance your space.

Door handles aren’t always the prettiest and can be a eye sore. I’ve lined up some hardware that can be easily swapped out. Remember, if you are renting, these can be changed back to the original hardware without causing any damage to the orginal owners space.

Lastly, if you aren’t happy with your paint color, then switch it. Make sure you have your current paint color so you can paint it back if you don’t like the colors. Go to Sherwin Williams or Lowes, and get some samples, Paint a small area in your house where you want to transform. Always look at it during the day, and night because the undertone of the paint may look different, and you may not love. I’ve added some paint tools that I use when I paint my house.

I hope these tips were helpful. If you make any of these swaps, I’d love to see. Tag me @dezivdesign. Happy Wednesday!
