How to Hang Drapes Like a Pro and Make Them Look Custom Made!
I use to feel intimidated hanging drapes because I was unsure how to select the right length, and was scared I would mess up. Don't worry I figured it out all out for you. On today's blog I will teach you how to hang drapes like a pro and make them look like you ordered custom drapes. Have you ever walked into a room and saw the most gorgeous curtains and thought "wow, I'd like for my house to look like that!" Well, you can! So first things first you want your drapes to make your window look larger and wider. Below I will give you all the secrets to create a custom look. I will also provide a few options of drapes that you can purchase for a fraction of the price. Are you ready? Let's get started!
You want to hang your drapes or curtains as close to the ceiling as possible by doing this it will draw your eye up to the ceiling which makes your ceiling look higher.
When hanging your drapes, hang them 8"-12" outside of your window trim. By using this trick, this will give the illusion that your window is larger and you allow more natural light in your space.
Lastly, make sure your drapes/curtains kiss the floor. You don't want your curtains to drag on the floor which makes them look bunched together. You also don't want your curtains to hang high. That will make your window look smaller and it just won't look right. You want the drapes to barely kiss the floor.
If you are unsure what size to get when shopping for drapes, you can take out your tape measure and measure closest to the ceiling where you will hang your curtain rod and then measure it down to the floor. You also want to get the width of your window to determine how many panels you will need.
